My blog has died down a bit because I have had work all week, its a busy time. But a good way to restart things is to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Eid Adha, and a happy new year.

A True Head Banger..
At the mall today I saw this kid banging his head lower than the head of rocker while playing his guitar. This guy was banging his head soo low I got a bit dizzy watching him. It was a funny sight especially when you think that the kid probably didnt know what he was doin!

The Simple Way of Life
Ive truly come to realize how living life without worrying about things that dont need to be worried about, without taking un-serious things seriously, and remaining relaxed makes life so much more pleasant and easier.

Insane Ad
Today on the radio there was an ad for a mental institution somewhere in Sydney. The final motto of the ad was: If there is something not right, then do the right thing, call us. What a shit ad. I have a friend who constantly blows his nose, now Im considering calling them...

Girls who Cruise and Pick Up..
I am rather surprised, alarmed, but not angry, at the amount of girls who cruise and pick up guys. It seems like the roles have been reversed. Im not too sure if thats a bad thing or a good thing, but it sure as hell makes things easier for us guys. All that is required now is to walk around wearing some nice threads, a smile on your face, and an ability to at least make eye contact. Its a rather big change and sadly I have only come to realize it recently. Shame, I've spent a year here already. I was told I should open my eyes, and I have since heeded that advice and have since realized differences I was unaware of.

The Hijabi Conflict
Theres something that truly deeply disturbs me. It is when I see a girl wearing a hijab and failing to follow the guidelines set once the hijab is placed upon her head. Especially in Australia, my experience has been rather appalling. I was in the mall and behind me I heard this girl cursing she was like "fuck this and that and fuck walla fuck bla bla" and I told my friend "I bet you she wears a hijab". Once we stepped aside, sure enough, she was wearing a hijab. Rather typical. She doesnt represent all girls who wear hijab but unfortunately in this world, generalizing is a very common and easy thing to do. I dont really care what the specific person does in her life, but dont make things worse for others.

It has come to my attention from constructive criticism that my blog has become negative and that it should become more positive. I agree. From now on I will try to be more positive even though I am positive in life. Maybe my thoughts are negative..

"Agreeable is Boring"
Ive realized that I am way too easy going that its making me look weak, as if I cannot express what I want. It makes me look like the type of person who is dominated by others. But I dont believe thats true. Im just really open and easy going. But I've started to say No sometimes and it feels good. Even if I dont really think saying No for some situations is exactly what I want, I still say it. Say No. It feels good.

Children in America
Once more, im shocked as a I read the news the other day. An 8 year old boy with his friends raped a 9 year old girl. Yup, hes only 8 years old. Shit, I didnt even know someone could raise the tent at that age. Is it even possible? Ok he might be a horny child, deprived of sexual activity, and im sure he is at that age. But then he goes on to rape a girl. Its no longer about being horny but rather being a criminal. If this guy started raping at this age, whats he going to do when he hits 18. Better yet, his father said it was not rape and that both parties agreed to it beforehand. Im not sure what to believe. It seems like school shootings and rape is now an on going fad in America. Who is there to blame, the TV? the parents? or lack of parents?

Getting Taser-ed
Its on the rise. The amount of people getting tasered seems to be on the rise. Police have started tasering people for fun pretty much. I watched the clip of the guy being tasered in the airport in Canada. He was tasered with 50,000 Volts. Thats crazy. I just watched another clip now of a father getting tasered for speeding, he was shocked in front of his wife and she was pregnant. Poor child, he hasnt even been born and he saw his dad being tasered. If you want to watch it, click the right link Liveleak

Ive realized, when I look back at my posts, that they are really boring. Boring. Especially the last couple posts ive written, its because I wrote them during my exams, which is a rather boring time. Whats in a Name?
For those who got excited and thought I was going to talk about Shakespeare in this post, im afraid you will have to look else where to cater for you desire. The real reason for this post is im looking for a name.
There is this fruit I used to eat in Lebanon and I just ate it here the other day, in Lebanon we call it "generic." Im not sure what its called in english and I would like to know. For those who dont know what it it, its a single-seeded small green slightly acidic ball. It is served with salt if the person serving you is wealthy. Haha imagine that, salt used to be expensive back in the old days, sometime around 1973. Anyway, I think after sometime, this green ball turns into a purple plum. Come to think of it, im gonna Google green plum now, if anyone knows what it is, please enlighten!

The Internet..
The internet is such a big place that the title to this post could not be any more specific. Over the past years I have realized the internet can be used for absolutely anything. Any questions, ideas, thoughts, can now be Googled and sure enough you will find an answer. Anything you type into the search box, wait lemme rephrase that, anything you seek, you shall find! Its a window to a world filled with endless possibilities.
I was reading the other day how easily the internet can be used for spying. Not just spying on countries, but spying on you. Anything one sends in an email, in an instant msg, any comment on the internet, any website or blog you start up can all be traced. Not just traced though, all its details can be read. The sender can be found and anything found can be used against you as evidence. The internet is being used by the police to solve crimes, which is a good thing, but the uses of the internet against someone are endless. Facebook is closely monitored by employers, police, secret agencies, and so on. And facebook is just one example.
When I started this blog I thought about that. Everything I write is available to anyone and if someone wanted find out where exactly I am right now is very easy.
So be careful, think thrice times about things. Sometimes lying about your details on the internet can be a good thing.

Investing in Whiskey
I was enlightened by a news article the other day saying that investments in whiskey were safer than investments in stocks. The prices of whiskey increase as the years pass by, but not for all bottle, only the limited ones. They even started a whiskey index similar to the stock market on the internet now. Bottles can reach high prices and can increase in price exponentially. Not bad, thats interesting. Im researching into it to understand how it works, if your interested, email me.

Phoenicians vs. Arabs ?
A question or rather a statement that some people claim is true is that the Lebanese people are more of Phoenicians rather than Arabs. Why stop there? Why not claim us as Ottomans, Romans, and so on. Lebanon was ruled by many great kingdoms. Its a classic example of people encompassing the best parts of history, or the parts of history they want. I think that those past kingdoms that we were ruled by are still part of our life today. We have learned from them which is a good thing. The beauty of the Lebanese culture is that we are part of many cultures, modernized like the West yet part of the Middle East. To face the truth, just because Arab countries arent the best in the world when comparing their prosperity to the West, does not mean we can abandon our heritage. We are different to the ordinary Arab, but that gives no reason to deny it!
When it comes down to the bottom line, who cares, Arab or Phoenician. WE ARE LEBANESE FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!

90% of Americans who own pets buy them Christmas gifts.I found that on a website, the site was American, hence the word "American". I found that pretty surprising. The Years That Pass...The Age That Comes
Having been in Australia for over a year now, I look back and wonder what I've done. Whenever I think of that, all I can think of is my life becoming an endless routine. Amidst the constant drowning in schedules, I can say I have learned to become more productive in everything I do while at the same time taking time to actually enjoy life. Its pretty cool being able to balance Uni and Work in parallel to Life.
The days that one misses are the days that no longer exist. The days that are etched into the memories archive of our brain. For me, those days are the days which I remember being not really important. The days where the main concern was what to do and at what time. The days of carelessnessness.
But as we become of age, its responsibility that dominates. The responsibility is a good thing. It feels good and bad at the same time, similar to the feeling when eating steak with too much ketchup. What I wonder is is there such a thing as being too responsible?

Spice Girls Back!!!!
I was overcome by the feeling of divine happiness the other day. I had heard that the spice girls were back. I had to double check to make sure. So I casually walked home at a running pace and looked it up on the internet.
Its typical of celebrities that start running out of money or realize that people may have forgotten them to come back together as a group. For the readers who were old enough to still remember them*, you might remember those annoying songs. I was happy to see the hottest one again, Scary Spice.
*I say that because after I mentioned Captain Planet in another post there has been an influx of younger readers

This site is up and running on Google search engines. It can be found once searched for and it actually shows up as one of the first depending what you type in. Not bad. The more people that visit, the higher it will be on the list I think.
Procrastination
The time has come for exams and I find myself once again having to cram. Even though you know its not the best thing to do, but procrastination seems to prevail at uni. Im not sure why really. Maybe its because a combination of procrastination and cramming worked during one semester, one begins to think it will work this semester. And the cycle goes on....It may work this semester again, but the question is how long can this procedure be kept up and running?
Regardless, I doubt ill change soon. The first couple weeks of uni every semester seem to go to waste, no studying whatsoever. And as the weeks pass, the number of weeks of unstudied work also increases. The Consequences: Stress, Cram, and Sleep Deprivation. The Pros: ... ?

Paper Pens
I was amazed today and I have come to an optimistic realization. A friend of mine was writing with a paper pen. Its an environmentally friendly pen. It was pretty cool knowing that once its done it'll be recycled and it allows people like you and I put in our own two cents when it comes to saving the environment, similar to what Captain Planet used to do before he died.
Not only did I realize that the pen can be smoked, but that the inventor of it either had good intentions or bad intentions.
Did he make the pen to save the environment, or to use the newfound environmental awareness to his /her own financial benefit? What do you think?

Motor Show Sydney '07
Yesterday I went to the motor show. There were lots of people there. Most of the people were like me, looking at cars and joking about how long it would take to pay it off, or what can be done with the same amount of money. Modesty was in the air. Some questions me and my friends asked:
Can we have the keys to this Maybach?
Can I lay-by this one?
Etc...It was fun.
But it got a little boring after a while. All the cars are becoming similar to each other. Everything looks and feels the same. But some cars are pretty cool. Its worth going to and playing around with all the cool buttons on the car. Like this one button, once pressed, automatically opened the glove compartment. Thats an excellent idea because in case someone has trouble pulling a glove compartment handle, they can now just press a button. Not bad...thats extremely useful...

Train Girls
I was on the train with a friend, we were heading off to the city and there were some girls in the same carriage. We sat across from them and we couldnt help hear what they were saying.
Interestingly enough, they covered many topics in about 2 minutes. Those topics of talk include:
Singing the lyrics to a song and trying to figure out the name
Leg shaving
How some guy msged the girl asking to see her
Pretty interesting topics, I cant help but wish I had asked for their numbers. O well..
If you cant tell, Im being sarcastic!

Aliens...?
Im not too sure if we have been visited by Aliens yet, but I think theres a big chance of life out there. Of the whole solar system, what are the odds of Earth being the only planet to support life. Its all possible. However, I dont really believe that every Alien race would be super intelligent and able to communicate without speaking. I think if an Alien race exists, they're probably similar to us; ignorant, fighting baseless wars, on the verge of nuclear war, and also wondering about lifeforms other than them. They might even have their own Paris Hilton equivalent.
I think that they are probably also stuck on their own planet, maybe only wondering around on their moons just like us.
Ive heard that if you want to travel to different planets, faraway planets, the cost of public transport in space is too great, extremely unreliable, and unsafe due to space cowboys.

Whats the Rush?
In my effort to understand life, I can say I have learned something else from the train stations here. That it other than how to hold your breath long enough to not smell the body odors coming from the person in front of you. Were like sardines in a moving box with doors, anyway thats another story.
The first day i was Central, I was stunned at how people run from one side to another. While I was still not familiar with life in a country where time is important, I found it amusing watching people run and trip over each other. I couldnt understand why! People run from side to side, like a basketball game, except there are people wearing suits and carrying bags. There are people who wouldnt even hear you if you were following them, iPods on high. Thats really dangerous actually, again for another story.
As I started university I realized that managing my time became really important. Time walking is Time Wasted! In order to get home faster, I have to be at my local station from my university in 30 mins. Otherwise I would end up waiting an extra 30 minutes waiting for the bus.
So I became just another time-oriented person running through the stations, from platform to platform. I became a hypocrite. Making fun of people while I have become one of them.
Who knows, theres probably someone out there, watching and laughing at us, not knowing that one day, they will be the one being made fun of!

The Escalator
When I first came to Australia, I was truly surprised at some things. I had nothing to do, I knew no one and nothing at all, so I decided to go to the city.
I reached Central station and I got on the escalator. All of a sudden, everyone moves left. Back from where im from, the escalator step is your property. You can do anything you want on it, that is until the step your standing on disappears. But anyway, I found it really cool here that people move to one side, it allows the people in a rush to get past quicker.

My Problem, What?? I Have No Problems!
Every country has problems. A more positive word would be obstacles. I wont touch on political problems or budget problems and so on, but rather problems that affect me and you. Those are the problems that occur between two or more people with different views, backgrounds, and priorities.
Here in Australia, we benefit from having a multicultural society. Since each community is different, some people cross roads with each other. When two communities collide, theyre quick to blame the other rather than blame themselves.
As I mentioned before, understanding ones actions can only be accomplished after understanding your own actions. Well when two communities are at each others head, then we do tend to have a problem.
But what caused it? Every problem has to sides to it. One example was that of different communities in many countries.
People blame each other rather than look at what they themselves did to stir the problem. To solve a problem, both the problemers (one who is part of a problem) must look within and try to abolish what they may have done that lead them to be part of the problem. Its immature to easily allocate blame on the other party.
Sadly, many adults whom I have chatted with fail to take into consideration the problems of the people or community they support. If the adults think like that, the question that remains is:
How does the youth think? Think again...

Express Lane
The express lane of a supermarket is a good idea. The idea that people who dont have a trolley load of items are allowed their own lane is really appealing. Some countries dont have an express lane, so here in Australia, were blessed.
As with any concept it is no longer ideal when its path crosses with human nature.
I was in the supermarket, yes I went again and i did buy more ice tea. Anyway, I only had a couple of items and i thought I would use the express lane. I stood there for some time, long enough for the lane to no longer be called express.
So I looked down the lane, and I found her. This lady, she had just finished unloading what seemed to be more than 10 products. I had stood in the line thinking I would get out quick, but then she, lets call her Paris, decided to use the express lane. I hate seeing inconsiderate people. When everyone follows the rules except for the odd egg. Thats what make me mad. I looked over at Paris, she looked as if she had done nothing wrong.
When you follow rules, you begin to assume everyone else will. Unfortunately, our society has few Utopian characteristics.
I was thinking of telling her what she did wrong, but I didnt want to make a scene. So I left her, and I waited patiently. After all, I wasnt late for anything...

The Word 'Wurd'
I have heard people say 'Wurd'. They use it everywhere and anytime they want. It somehow fits into the context of everyday life....somehow.
I never understood what it means or how i could use it properly without breaking the english rules of grammar, something I really care about haha.
So I thought I'd ask for advice. It turns out the best reason for the use of 'Wurd' is that it is "just something you say." They went on to say "its just like hollering out."
That made me think. Wouldnt Barking be of equivalence?

Understanding What People Do
Probably one of the hardest things to understand is why the people around you act as they do.
Having said that, I have realized that understanding someones actions is successful only when you understand you own. The actions that we take ourselves, even the smallest of actions affect how people act towards us. What you say affects how people treat and think of you and how they treat you. But my point today isnt about what people think of me because thats the least of my worries.
The point of this post was to pass my opinion that understanding someones actions towards us cannot be achieved without understanding your own actions.

Consumerism
Today i walked into a convenient store where I work. I stood waiting in the while, wondering why I decided to buy what I bought. I sacrificed 10 minutes of my 30 minutes break at work just to go and buy sachets of Ice tea so i can make ice tea at home.
As I stood in the line, I stood listening to the sound of the beaming cash registers. I began to think and look around at all these people, buying and buying non-stop. The mall just full of people eager to buy things. People moving trolley after trolley of goods from the mall to their homes.
I know, from the shop I work in, how much people spend on items they may not need. Sadly I think have become just another person waiting in a line. I've started to buy things I dont need with money I couldve saved for something else.
Its not that im encouraging stingy-ness, but the complete opposite. For instance, I look back at things ive bought in the past week. Just one of them was a Jug. Its not any normal jug. It has a place to put the ice so that your drink doesnt get distilled with water once u put a lot of ice in it. Not a bad invention. The price was cheap and so i decided to buy it. I started to use it to make my ice tea and I realized how completely useless it is. Once you put the ice it to start cooling your drink, it actually takes some time before you can drink it cold. Not only that, but it also needs lots of ice. Im not a big fan of filling my ice trays and putting them in the freezer while trying not to drop water on the floor when walking between my freezer and tap. Such a hassle. Whenever I drink something, i dont exactly take 30 minutes to drink a cup of Ice tea; by the time im done, the ice is still in my cup and therefore doesnt take the flavor away from my drink.
I was blown away by the price, it was pretty cheap. I dont think im the only person becoming like this. Weve all become or are on our way to becoming like the South Park episode where WallMart opens up. Driven by bargains of completely useless products.
Even though what i bought didnt cost much, I realize over time, if cut spending on items like this, i could save more money that i can put towards buying a car or my upcoming vacation.
Think again.

Why Blog?
Today, out of nowhere, I decided to create a blog. I had thought about this once before and wondered, "Why would some1 blog?". Why would you want to make your life available to the public. I decided to Google it and find out. I liked what i read.
One answer was "To be heard". Assuming "to be heard" means thats the reason you blog is for attention, then i dont agree. Another point of view could mean that blogging "to be heard" makes blogging sound as if it [the internet] replaced human interaction and friends. If one was just blogging to be heard than maybe they need to go out and meet some people. I have friends that I could have "hear me".
Ive started this blog mainly to comment on the world in which we all live in and to comment on events that happen everyday. Ive decided to share this with the world because lets say i wrote a private diary, i feel that my feelings and experiences arent shared with everyone. This blog will allow my opinions to reach more people and posting some of my experiences will allow people to learn from my mistakes and success stories; let alone i will learn myself. In a sense one could say im blogging "to be heard" and that ive contradicted myself. In a sense, I am blogging "to be heard". Im blogging to allow my ideas and thoughts to reach more people than possible if I was just talking amongst my friends. Hopefully, the ideas I mention will give the average person, like you and me, another point of view in life. Just knowing that I have encouraged others to think again about the life we live in is something that make me believe my blogging has not gone to waste. Blogging will allow me to pass time and share my experiences with many others.
As the days pass by and i post my opinions and experiences, some people wont agree with what I say, but if i was concerned about that then i wouldnt have started this.
